As I converted to Maven, I started using its convention for naming versions, namely the idea of differentiating official releases from snapshot builds - the latter ones being tagged with labels such as 1.4.5-SNAPSHOT.One of the advantages you get is that the release plugin can automate 99% of the tasks you have to perform when you release a new official build, by automatically tagging it as 1.4.5...

Zembly is Shutting Down

According to a goodbye letter, Sun's Web 2.0 effort, Zembly, is shutting down on November 30th. The project allowed easy creation of Web apps using a browser-based development environment. It was used to create web widgets and applications for the iPhone, Facebook, Meebo, OpenSocial, and other social platforms.

System Modeling Environment on the NetBeans Platform

Latiz by Latiz Technologies is a systems modeling event driven simulation environment built on the NetBeans Platform. System block models are constructed in Latiz using GUI components to add existing model components to a palette, connect those components through their predefined inputs and outputs, and to set the model parameters for each of the model components.
