OSGi Survey Results

Last week, I opened the 2nd Annual OSGi Survey.
The survey concluded early Tuesday, with more than 250 developers
taking the survey (last year, 64 took the survey). The survey was not
scientific, and it was clear that the majority of folks taking the
survey were already using OSGi. But the results were interesting
nonetheless, and offers some insight to how OSGi is perceived and used.
Here are...<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/zones/osgi/~4/PlqRcGHDiPM" height="1" width="1"/>

2nd Annual OSGi Survey

Last year, I conducted a survey to gauge industry acceptance, adoption, and understanding of OSGi. I posted a summary of the results on my site with more detail on the APS Burton Group blog. With SpringOne2GX
approaching in less than one week, I decided to offer the same survey
to get a feel where OSGi has gone over the past year.References

Java Modularity - OSGi and Project Jigsaw

I’ve
had some time to reflect on the sessions pertaining to Java modularity
that I attended at JavaOne. This topic can be pretty confusing, so
let’s take some time to clarify a few things.
The JSRs
Initially, there were three primary JSRs surrounding Java modularity - JSR 277, JSR 294, and JSR 291. Descriptions follow:References

Oracle's Effect on Java

With Oracle just after buying
Sun, maybe it's time to consider what this means for the Java
community. There's no doubt that enterprise Java is something that
Oracle have huge interest in, and will probably help nudge this along.
Two things that I would really like to see are continued, and improved,
investment into Java on the client side, as well as getting things back
on track for Java 7. <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/zones/osgi/~4/PHjPky-_Nno" height="1" width="1"/>

A Dozen OSGi Myths and Misconceptions

Anybody who knows me or has been following me lately knows that I

about OSGi in the past few years.

But as I talk about OSGi with other developers, I often hear them
say things about OSGi that simply aren't true. It's not their fault,
though. Unfortunately, there's a lot of misinformation and
